Sterling Low

Obituary of Sterling Mark Low

Sterling Mark Low, beloved husband of Brittany Willardson Low of Yorba Linda, California, and son of Allan and Katherine Low of Calgary, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2008 from complications related to diabetes. Sterling was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. His tender heart and entertaining personality endeared him to all he knew as he grew up. Sterling began playing rugby while at Lester B. Pearson High School and the game quickly became a passion in his life. He loved to play and was Captain, then President, of the University of Alberta Rugby Club. He also loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his band, as well as singing in choirs and church performances. He was a Vietnamese-speaking missionary for the LDS Church in Anaheim, California. He loved the work he did and the people he served there. In 2006, Sterling met and fell in love with Brittany, his California dream girl. They were married in August, 2007 in the Newport Beach, California temple. Sterling never seemed to be more fulfilled than as husband to Brittany. Consistent with his kind heart, Sterling’s dream was to assist in agricultural development in Africa. He achieved a degree in Agronomical Science from the University of Alberta, and was happy to have started work in the agricultural industry earlier this year. Sterling was shining example of empathy, compassion, and love. His heart was larger than life. He championed the underdog and looked out for the little guy. He had an amazing memory, a quick wit and a contagious sense of humour. His life reflected his strong faith in Jesus Christ, and his willingness to serve touched many. In addition to his loving his wife and parents, Sterling is survived by his siblings, Brian (Abby) Low of Brooklyn, NY, Sarah Low of Vancouver and Jane Low of Edmonton. Sterling will be dearly missed by his extended family, the Craig and Betsy Willardson family, and by the many friends who knew and loved him. Pioneer Grains has established the Sterling M. Low Memorial Fund through the Raymond Rotary Club. The fund will assist in the development of agricultural projects in Uganda. Donations may be made to this fund in lieu of flowers.
