Obituary of John Jack Clayton Pierson
On Tuesday, March 25, 2008 our much loved father, Jack slipped away from us.
Born, raised and educated in Taber, AB, Dad was the youngest of eleven children born to Elizabeth and William Pierson. Dad worked various jobs in Taber during the “dirty thirties” including the cannery, hardware and lumber businesses. In January 1939, he married Margaret Brown and together they had three daughters. In 1953 the family moved to Medicine Hat, AB. Dad retired in 1981 and enjoyed golfing, woodworking and gardening. Dad remained in Medicine Hat until 2004, when he moved to Calgary to be closer to his family. As a young man he played basketball and baseball and was a volunteer firefighter. After moving to Medicine Hat, Dad took up golf, eventually becoming a Lifetime Member of Connaught Golf Club.
In 1993 Dad was predeceased by Margaret, his beloved wife of fifty-five years. He was also predeceased by his brother Claude, nine other siblings; son-in-law Steve Evack and grandson, Stephen Jonathan Evack. Dad is survived by his loving daughters, Jackie Evack, Jean (Ron) Miller, and Sandy Pierson. He will be forever missed by his granddaughters, Heather (Dan) Tucker, Jennifer Evack, Erin Miller; and great-grandson Jesse Tucker; sister-in-law Ruby McLachlan; brother-in-law Frank MacLeod; “almost” sisters Beth Smith and Violet Armstrong and many other very special nieces and nephews.
Jack’s family wish to express their sincere thanks to the staff on Trafalgar Unit at Wentworth Manor and Drs. Steve Watson and Doug Lampard for the wonderful care they provided to Jack.
