Obituary of Walter Rae
Walter Rae of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Our much loved Dad went to be with Mom, his wife Hilda of fifty-three years, who predeceased him in June, 2003.
Dad was born in Strathadam, New Brunswick and on his eighty-seven year journey he gathered many cherished friends and endless memories. Walter worked at Palm Dairies for forty-seven years. He was always active throughout his life; square dancing with Hilda, holding executive positions in various organizations, building model trains, or simply spending time with his family and friends. Walter’s greatest pleasure was traveling to visit his many relatives and friends, which took him from St. John, NB to Victoria, BC. Dad was not just our father, he was also our friend who showed us every day the “right” way to live. A more kind, considerate and generous man would be hard to find and his legacy of love will continue to live on and grow in our hearts. We miss him terribly, but we also feel joy in knowing that he is at peace to once again be with Mom and safe in God’s care.
Walter is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Glen of Victoria, BC, Rick and Ginette of Nanaimo, BC and Brad and Lori of Calgary; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Jeff Bergl of Calgary; four grandchildren, Tara, Chris (Carol), Jenna and Krysten and one great-granddaughter, Caidence. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Donald and Josephine, Gerald and June and Ramona Rae and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ronald Tagg. Walter was predeceased by one sister and two brothers.
