Obituary of Medicine Shield

Jocelyn Kendra Medicine Shield of Siksika, AB passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the age of 41 years. Jocey made her final journey to the streets of Glory on the Anniversary of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She will be remembered for her strong will and determination that earned her the nickname of “Nine Lives”. Knowing Jocey, this is her plan to prepare a special place for those closest to her heart- Myron, her pride and joy; her Pillars- father Joseph; brothers Fred, Guy (Marcia), Bradford, Dallas (Gina), Aaron, Tyson, and Keenan; sisters Colleen (Thurman), Rhonda, Raylene (Wade), Alice, Tashiro (Ray), Jolene (John), Shelly, and Tylan (Andy); traditional parents Wilton and Donna Raw Eater, and her ‘second parents’ Marvin and Delia White Eagle; Uncles Clifford (Anne) Big Eye and Harrison Bull Bear; and Aunties Ruby Doore, Francis Many Bears, and Veronica (Wayne) Old Woman; great great Auntie Nora A Young Man; and numerous Aunties, Uncles and other relatives. Jocey’s Angels in Heaven are her mother Geraldine; brothers Patrick, Ellie, Emery; sisters Joely and Sherrilyn; maternal grandparents Peter and Alice Axe, and paternal grandparents Frank and Mary Medicine Shield. She also leaves behind many special friends and relatives in the Medicine Shield, Axe, Old Woman, McMaster, Woods, Solway, Yellowfly, Badboy, Water Chief, Doore, Breaker, Cardinal, Turning Robe, Bull Bear, Many Bears, Good Eagle, Sunwalk, and Black Horse Families. The family wishes to apologize for anyone they may have missed. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Joe Medicine Shield at Siksika, AB on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Siksika Community Center on Thursday March 27, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. with Graveside Services to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
