Obituary of Grace Eileen Freed
A dear lady left us suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2008 at her home. She wasn’t a famous or well-known person, but she was…our mom and our grandmother.
Grace Eileen was born to Kenneth and Hansina McLennan on September 7, 1926 in Poe, AB. She was raised on the family farm and took schooling in Ryley, AB. Grace married Clifford Pepper on November 13, 1946 and moved on to a farm in the Ohaton area where they raised their two daughters, Patti and Linda. They shared wonderful great times with family, friends and neighbours. Grace was also especially known for her crocheted afghans. Upon Clifford’s passing in May 1986, Grace moved to Camrose. In January 1988 Grace married Don Freed and they moved to Calgary. During their years together, they enjoyed travelling, motor-homing, family get-togethers and their many friends. In January 2006 Don passed away.
Grace will be fondly remembered for her enthusiasm for life, sense of humour, and her great love for family and extended family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by Patti and Linda (Roger); grandchildren, Jackie (Brad), Nancy (Roe), Tyler, Blair, and Lowell; and great-granddaughter Lee Louise Ethridge. She will also be missed by her brother Bruce (Kaye) of Whiterock, BC; sister-in-law Juanita McLennan of Powell River, BC; sister-in-law Ethel (Jerry); and brother-in-law Percy Pepper. She is also fondly remembered by Judy (Allan), Donna (Robert), Perry, Monica (Doug), and Sheila (Greg) and all their families. She was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Glen and James.
“We don’t remember days; we remember moments.”
