Obituary of Eileen Jean Wilkie
Eileen Jean Wilkie passed away after a brief and unexpected illness on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
Eileen was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on September 23, 1925 to Captain David and Jean Hunter. She married George who was in the RCAF in October 1944 and came to Canada with him in February 1945. Eileen lived in Winnipeg (1945 to 1954), Calgary (1954 to 1969 and 1972 to 2008) and in Moose Jaw from (1969 to 1972). She was an active member of the Alberta War Brides Association and a strong supporter of her grandchildren’s interests and was known to them and their friends as “Grandma Scotty”.
Eileen is survived by her children, Elaine (Nick) Forsch, Bill (Darlene) Wilkie, Gord (Barb) Wilkie, and Moira (Ken) Iversen, her grandchildren, Alfi Forsch (Ken Chorney), Allison (Mike) Sutherland, Regan (Jeff) Bickell, Daniel, Jennifer and Colleen Iversen, Twilla Nicolson, and by her great-grandchildren Dori and Cali Sutherland. She is also survived by her sister and good friend Sheila Hunter who cared for her during her brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband George and by their infant son, David.
