Obituary of Sivasothinayagam Sithamparanathan

Sivasothinayagam Sithamparanathan, known to her close friends as Siva, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the age of 82 years. She was born on July 12, 1925 in Thunnalai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and throughout her life called Singapore, Sabah (Malaysia), Sri Lanka and Calgary her home. Despite surviving many hardships, including the death of her husband at a young age, she was a resilient woman who was fully devoted to her family and friends. She leaves behind her sister, Pancham of Darwin, Australia; her four daughters, Vathana (Bala), Menaka, Sugi (Magesan) and Puspa (Jayanthan); her seven grandchildren, Anasuya, Uma, Arvind, Aarthi, Easwar, Janaki, and Arun; and one great-grandson Jayan. She was predeceased by her husband, A. Sithamparanathan; her brother, V. Sellathamby; and her sister, V. Sivanayagam. A Celebration of Siva’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1:45 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
