Obituary of Douglas Jones

Douglas G. E. (Doug) Jones, beloved husband of Barbara of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Doug was born in Pointe Claire, QC on January 12, 1920. He resided in Montreal, QC and Cambridge, ON before moving to Calgary in 1980. Doug was a WWII veteran, having served in the RCAF from 1942 to 1945. Doug had a great love for animals, especially for dogs. He was an avid sports fan as well as an accomplished hockey player, curler and golfer. Doug was an always present coach of his children’s favourite sports. Besides his loving wife Barbara, Doug is also survived by his children, Ron (Myra), Bob (Pat), Linda (George), Ken (Mel), Linda (Ken), Bev (Kirk), and Jackie; his grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Matthew, Brittney “his princess”, Cameron, Brendan, Vicky and Chris; and his great grandchildren, Breckin, Kaden, Emma and Michael. Doug is also survived by his brothers, Ken, Bruce and Len. Doug was predeceased by his first wife Thelma. A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at Woodcliff United Church (5010 Spruce Drive S.W.) on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
