Obituary of Jean Angela Smith

Jean Smith of Calgary and formerly of Edmonton, passed away early Tuesday, March 18, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 92 years. Jean was born in Winnipeg, MB, on December 27, 1915. Jean met the love of her life for sixty years, George Smith through her brother “Bill” in the 1930’s and in 1943 they moved to Edmonton, AB. Jean was well known for her contribution to the Catholic Church in Edmonton where she led a Tuesday and Friday Rosary group for over thirty years. She attended Our Lady of Assumption and Immaculate Heart Parishes while in Edmonton. Jean will be sadly missed by her daughters, Valerie Kawalilak, Cherylyn Stacey; her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Sandra; granddaughters, Shannon (Jim) Cinnamon and Shea (Scott); grandson Blair (Sandy); her great-grandchildren, Michael, Riley, Teio, Kaden and Abbey; her sister Angela; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband George in 2001.
