Obituary of Lexie Nora Newson

Lexie Newson of Calgary passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the age of 45 years, after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Lexie was born in Pugwash, NS in 1962, the daughter of Nancy Huston and the late Clarence Huston. In 1988 she moved to Medicine Hat, AB where she met the love of her life, Sam Newson. They were married in Calgary on June 25, 1994 and it was here that they made their home. Lexie was a true “Gemini” and regardless of which “twin” you met, you could never forget her. She always spoke her mind and defended her family to the hilt. An accomplished Highland Dancer as a child, in her latter years, she was a stay-at-home mom with a gift for interior decorating and a passion for refinishing antique furniture as a hobby. A truly fiery and passionate woman, wife, mother and lover who will always be missed. Besides her loving husband Sam, Lexie is survived by her daughter Erika (Jason), son Mackenzie, and step-daughter Tamara (Adam). She is also survived by her mother Nancy Huston of Pugwash, NS; sisters, Heather of Montreal, QC, Kim (Richard) Yates of Dartmouth, NS and Tracy (Gordie) MacQuarrie of Port Hawksbury, NS; and brothers Stephen of Halifax, NS and Gregory (Karla) of Pugwash, NS. Besides her father Clarence Huston, she was predeceased by her sisters, Bonnie-Gael and Lynn; and step-son Thomas.
