Obituary of Freeman Vessey
Freeman Vessey, beloved husband of the late Olga Rose Vessey, of Airdrie, passed away peacefully in Calgary surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the age of 76 years.
Freeman came out west from P.E.I in 1956 to see the Calgary Stampede and chose to stay and pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. His career took him throughout Alberta and eventually to Calgary where he lived until his retirement and finally to Airdrie where he lived until his passing.
Freeman will be sadly missed by his children, Gary (Kim), Janice (Daryl), David, Gail (Bruce) and Grant (Deb). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; numerous nieces, nephews, many friends and his pets, Shandi and Chez. Freeman was predeceased by his wife Olga, parents, Peter and Laura, his brother Claude and grandson Joey.
A Celebration of Freeman’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: (403) 521-3433.
