Obituary of Yvonne Fern Petratur

Bonnie Petratur, beloved wife and best friend of Joe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Bonnie waged a courageous battle with brain cancer for two and a half years. Bonnie was born in Lacombe, AB, the daughter of Patrick (predeceased in June 1976) and Fern L’Hirondelle. After leaving Lacombe, Bonnie began a career that spanned thirty-seven years in the earthmoving equipment and automotive industries as well as raised a family. Bonnie’s successes in the car business were many and she achieved management positions in two automotive dealerships within the Jack Carter group. Upon retirement in 2003, Bonnie was a volunteer at the YMCA and took up painting as a hobby. She was also an accomplished golfer and skier. Bonnie and Joe travelled extensively and Bonnie particularly enjoyed their many visits to the Arizona desert. We will miss Bonnie’s warm smile, generosity and storytelling at gatherings of both family and friends. Besides her husband Joe and mother Fern, Bonnie will be fondly remembered by her son Joseph John (Angela); daughter Christine Laurie (Sam); brothers; Dale (Cynthia) and Gary (Paula) L’Hirondelle; six grandchildren, Kazmira, Ciera, Tazia, Ryder, Christopher, and Joey; along with numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
