Obituary of Olga Florence Chudzy

Ollie Chudzy (nee Boychuk), widow of Jerry R. Chudzy, passed quietly of natural causes at the CareWest Sarcee Hospice on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, where she had been admitted a day earlier. At the end of her life, she was with her son Don, his wife Peggy and their two daughters, Maggie and Holly. Ollie was born on July 19, 1931 in Winnipeg, MB. She married Jerry Chudzy in 1950 and they were together till his passing in September 1999. They had three children, Don (Peggy) of Calgary, Chris (Marilyn) of Tyndal, MB, and Susan, who passed away in 1973 at the age of 12 years. In 2002, Ollie moved to Legacy Estates in the Millrise community in Calgary. For many years, she and Jerry could be found at one of the many arenas in Manitoba, watching her two boys play various levels of hockey. Susan was involved in Highland dancing and Ollie, being a Ukrainian dancer in her youth, encouraged her development in that area. When they found time to themselves, they enjoyed golfing and socializing at the Rossmere Golf and Country Club. Ollie is survived by her brother Alexander Boychuk (Olga) in Winnipeg; sons, Don (Peggy) and Chris (Marilyn); grandchildren Kelly, Chris Jr., Maggie, and Holly; great-grandchildren Drew, Dylan and Tessa; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jerry; daughter Susan; and siblings, Nellie, Violet and Nick.
