Obituary of Walter Elmer Ona

Walter (Wally) Elmer Ona, beloved husband of Theresa, of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Wally was born and raised on a family farm in Spruce Lake, SK. He married Theresa (Terry), a native Calgarian in 1944. Wally was an avid farmer and rancher. He served his country with the R.C.A.F. from 1940 to 1945. Wally was a member of the Lion’s Club and Rural Crime Watch, he volunteered with the Calgary Stampede for twenty years, and was a Councillor for the MD of Rockyview. A member of the Quarter Horse Association for over twenty-five years, Wally’s biggest passion was his horses. Besides his loving wife Terry, Wally is survived by his son, Jim; his sister Lillian Phillips. Nieces and nephews, Lorna Dutka, Marilyn Whitiburn, Bob and Jim Cowan, Gerry Newman, Glenda and Norman Newman, Beatrice Greensell, Alvin Wilson, Gwen Thompson and Susan Suthern, all of Western Canada and Australia. A Celebration of Wally’s Life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church (128 First Street East, Cochrane, AB) on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
