Obituary of Katherine MacKenzie

Katherine MacKenzie of Calgary, beloved wife of the late Colin Campbell, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the age of 76 years. Katherine was the loving and proud mother of three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Francine, Gregory and Larissa, Edmund and Julie and three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Bill, Jean and Richard and Patricia and Pete; cherished and loved grandmother of Carol-Anne, Ivan, Joanne, Nicole, Kayla, Colleen, Colin, Stephen, Jesse, Desmond and Matthew. Katherine was born on March 12, 1931 in Bellis, AB to Belle and Nick Taschuk, the eldest sister of seven girls, Arlene, twins Gloria and Gladys, Shirley, Gracie and Louise. She worked in the banking industry for many years and while working in Peace River met her future husband Colin and began their life together. Katherine was a generous volunteer, dedicating many years of service with the Canadian Cancer Society in numerous roles that directly helped cancer patients. Her volunteerism extended to several other organizations. As a giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and loyal friend, Katherine always stepped up to help anyone in need. She enjoyed simple joys such as her daily trip to the Co-op store, playing and socializing at bingo but more importantly she enjoyed big family gatherings. Katherine will be dearly missed and loved by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in St. Joseph’s section at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Special thanks go to the caring and compassionate nurses, Allison and Merissa of Unit 46 of the Foothills Hospital.
