Obituary of Pisatsi-namahka Stimson

Richard (Dicky) was born on July 17, 1959 at Siksika, Alberta and passed away suddenly on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Siksika Nation at the age of 48 years. Dicky was a hard working man who worked in the oilfield and took pride in his career. He was a persistent salesman with his artwork and with his personality; you couldn?t refuse to walk away without a painting. Known by a lot of people, Dicky had a deep raspy voice and you could tell wherever he was, that it was Dicky even if you didn?t see him. He was a big and tall man, and many were intimidated by his size until they got to know how gentle and caring he was. He had a unique sense of humour that made people laugh and he had a big heart for anyone who crossed his path. He was especially respectful of his elders. In his own special way, Dicky showed his love for his family and friends by doing the littlest things or his daily phone call to make sure we were alright. Dicky played with the Siksika Minor Hockey Club, of which he was proud. He was a loyal supporter and fan of the Siksika Buffalo?s and at times he became very excited, becoming a ?sideline coach?. He was very spiritual in our Native Culture and always reminded us to pray when things were not going well. He always encouraged us to have faith and most of all learn to forgive. Dicky will be remembered for his genuine personality, humbleness, laugh, deep voice, and unique sense of humour. Dicky will be remembered by his children: Sherry (Toby) Good Eagle, Shane (Jamie) Good Eagle, Suzanne (Charles) Good Eagle, Brenda (Dallas) Royal, Jed and Reagan Running Rabbit, Tyson Noname, Ryan (Nina) Willert; grandchildren Malorey , Gloria, Agnes, Iziik, Suri, Kacey, and Teague Good Eagle; sisters Ruby Doore, Audrey McMaster, Elizabeth and Yvonne Stimson, Olivia Wolf Leg; brothers Roy (Joan) Stimson, Adrian (Leslie) Stimson Sr., and Robert (Josephine) Wolf Leg; niece Norma Three Eagles, that he took as a sister; numerous special nieces and nephews who all had a special place in his heart; sister-in-law Justine Stimson (Panther Bone); Alice Weasel Child, Uncle Wilton (Donna) Raw Eater, and Auntie Mary Bull Bear. He also leaves behind his good friends Ricky Bear Hat and Stuart Breaker, and many other friends whose stories can tell you of their many adventures (and there were many!) Dicky comes from the families of Weasel Child, Doore, Raw Eater, Axe, Brass, Running Rabbit, Bull Bear, Black Horse, Turning Robe, Spotted Eagle, A Young Man, Crowfoot, Water Chief, Breaker, Maguire, Many Heads, Pretty Young Man, Black Kettle, Backfat, Strangling Wolf, Three Suns, Wright, and extended family members from the Blackfeet, Blood and Peigan, and by all others who knew and loved him. Dicky was predeceased by his parents, Connor and Doris; grandson Connor Jr.; brothers Colin, Ralph, Eddie, Bruce, Patrick, Xavier, and Adolphus Weasel Child; sisters Patsy, Peggy, and Betty; paternal and maternal grandparents; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wake Services will be held at Siksika Community Center (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Siksika Community Center on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery at Siksika Nation, AB.
