Obituary of Wilfred JEEKERS Dardis

Wilfred (Bill) “Jeekers Dardis beloved husband of Kathy of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the age of 73 years. Wilfred Dardis was born in Alsask, SK on October 20, 1934. He attended Saint Anthony’s College in Edmonton and went on to pursue a career with the Calgary Herald for thirty-three years. For twenty-five years Bill played hockey with the Fairview Oldtimers then playing in the Calgary 55+ Seniors League. Bill was an avid runner, competing in 6 marathons which included Athens and Honolulu. He volunteered at food banks and was an active member of the Father Albert Newman Knights of Columbus Council# 8470. Bill loved nothing more than sitting around a camp fire with a glass of wine. He was a caring, loyal family man and at every opportunity a true gentleman. Bill is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; three chosen children Patrick (Dianne), Colleen (Kevin) Dardis-McCallum, Monica (Doug) Hill; three step-children Michael, Susan and Mark; seven grandchildren, Rhys, Dan, Keith, Cameron, Courtney, Mikaela, and John,; as well as ten step-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Betty Williams, June Ouellette, and brothers Jim Dardis, and Jack Dardis. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Thelma Lorette Dardis. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. At the prayers hockey jerseys may be worn in Bill’s honour. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
