Obituary of Marguerite Peterson

Our Grandma Marge passed away quietly on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore at the age of 87 years. Mom’s strong sense of independence carried her through many difficult challenges in her later years as she faced the obstacles of losing her hearing, sight and mobility. Born and raised near Elmira, ON, Marguerite moved to Kitchener to complete her schooling, where she met and married her loving husband Bruce in 1947. They had three children before heading west to Calgary in 1962. When the children left home, Marge and Bruce followed their dream further west as they enjoyed sixteen wonderful years of retirement overlooking the lake in Peachland, BC. Mom’s lifelong talents for sewing, preparing delicious meals and preserves, and tending her garden flourished in the Okanagan. In 1996 Marge and Bruce returned to Calgary to be close to their children and grandkids. Marguerite’s lifelong involvement in the church community included membership at St. Giles, Varsity Acres and Trinity Presbyterian Churches. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Bruce in 2005. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Kevin (Sheila O’Brien), Jane, and Mary (Rob Fitzgerald); and her grandchildren Patrick, Susan, Mac and Shannon.
