Obituary of Carmen Marie Shannon-Lane
Carmen Shannon-Lane beloved wife of Derek Lane of Calgary, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the age of 43 years.
Carmen was born on September 29, 1964 in Calgary, AB. While raising her children Jessica and Chad, Carmen shared her children’s love for dance by creating costumes for the entire dance studio and participating as a parent volunteer at competitions and recitals. Carmen was truly an artist and chose her palate in her baking creations. She was an accomplished special occasion baker, with a long time clientele. Working alongside her husband Derek, they formed Lane’s Insurance in 1993. Strong, loyal and hopeful best describe this extraordinary woman who has touched the lives of many and who will forever watch over us all.
Besides her loving husband of close to twenty years Derek, Carmen is survived by her two children and son-in-law, Jessica and Dave Hall of Saskatchewan and Chad; her three grandchildren, Braden Hall, Emily Hall and Milo Olson; her father and step-mother Joe and Vera Shannon; mother and step-father Lynne and Larry Norem; her brothers, Aaron, Cory, Stan, Brad, and Steve; as well as her sister Anita.
