Obituary of Jan Sendewicz

Jan Sendewicz, beloved husband of Maria of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Jan was born in Zubacze, Poland on March 18, 1914, son of Marcin and Helena Sendewicz. Jan served with the 31st Light Artillery Regiment at Torun, and with the 20th Light Artillery Regiment at Pruzana, promoted to Lieutenant Corporal. Jan was a prisoner of war and was sent to Germany and finally liberated by the allies in May 1945. Jan was awarded a bravery medal. Jan and his family immigrated to Canada in November of 1960. Surviving him, his wife Maria; and daughter Lucja; grandsons John Luis, Andrew and Jonathan Fernandes; granddaughter Ania Czarnecki; and two great-granddaughters. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
