Obituary of Esther Kay Sperling

The family of Esther Sperling are grieved to announce the loss of their daughter, mother, and sister who passed into the arms of angels on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at the early age of 47 years. Esther was born in Kerrobert SK, and married George Sperling in 1979. Their life took them to Edmonton, Kerrobert, Kindersley, Calgary and Hanna. They settled back in Calgary in 1991, where Esther raised their children, completed her CMA designation, worked, volunteered, and made many friends. Esther enjoyed the outdoors, running, hiking and golfing, and treasured her collection of angel figurines. Esther will be remembered most for her generous spirit, gentle encouragement, compassionate acts, and love for children. Esther will be sadly missed by her children, Matthew and Michelle; parents Lambert and Anna Abel; siblings, Lydia Abel (Leonard Hunter), Miriam Abel (Ron Orthner), Tim Abel, and Naomi Abel (Ken Shurvell); and numerous friends and family. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes to commemorate Esther’s life at Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive South West) on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church (7103 – 20A Street S.E.) on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
