Obituary of Mabel Peggy Auchstaetter

Mabel “Peggy” Auchstaetter, a proud Canadian and Icelander, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Peggy was born on November 29, 1914 in Arborg, MB to Icelandic Pioneers and her strong work ethic continued throughout her life. She was a member of the Leif Eiriksson Icelandic Club of Calgary (LEIC). Peggy was named an Honorary Member in 1994 and received an Honorary Membership to the Icelandic National League in 2001. A much loved matriarch of the family and the void she will leave will be felt forever. Peggy is survived by her daughter Valerie (Stan) Sampson; her four grandchildren, Scott Patrick Sampson, Hayley Joy (Terry) Carter, Carla Dawn (Michael) Burger, and Kristy Lee Auchstaetter. She was also Long-Amma to seven cherished great-grandchildren, Lance Chad Sampson, Chelsea Joy Carter, Bradley Scott Sampson, Cody Lee Carter, Candace Teri Carter, Ashleigh-Dawn Noel, and Alexandra Lee Sampson. Peggy was predeceased by her beloved son Charles Edward Auchstaetter and her husband Ed Auchstaetter Those we love don’t go away They walk beside us every day Unseen, Unheard, but always near Still loved Still missed and very dear.
