Obituary of Rudolf Torjan

Rudy Torjan, beloved husband of Carmela of Calgary passed away on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Rudy served in WWII from 1941 to 1945 and immigrated to Canada in 1949 from his birth place Harije, Slovenia. In 1956 he moved to Calgary where he met and married his wife of fifty-one years, Carmela. He worked in a variety of trades, and was a master carpenter. He enjoyed his work, but his biggest pride and joy were his grandchildren. Rudy was a man of integrity, strength and wisdom. His guidance will be missed by all his family. Besides his loving wife, Rudy is survived by his children, Joyce (Luigi) De Somma, Janet (Howie) Desireau, John (Mannon) Torjan, and Ralph Torjan; his grandchildren, Marcus, Michael, Elisea, Carmela, Maria-Giovanna, and Mackenzie; his sister Cristina of Croatia; sister-in-law Vittoria Citro and niece Elisabeth Citro; brother-in-law Roy Citro and his wife Aida as well as numerous other relatives in Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. James’ Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W.) on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. We wish to thank Dr. Brzeski for his care and compassion over the years and also the staff in Unit 82 of the Rockyview Hospital.
