Obituary of Leslie Rowntree Thompson
Leslie (Les) Thompson passed away at the Intercare Chinook Hospice on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
Les was born in Sunderland, England. A decorated war veteran, he brought his young and growing family to Calgary in 1951. He pursued a career in accounting for several major companies, and was instrumental in developing new purchasing procedures within the oil and gas industry. Les was the comptroller for the original consortium developing the initial proposals for the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline. Les retired in 1982. He had a life-long love of gardening and travel.
Les is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Eveline; three children, Pauline (Robert), Sheila (Winston), and Brian; three grandchildren, Rowan (Lauren), Aman, and Kambili; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members residing in both England and Canada.
