It is with sadness that we announce the loss of Al Dawson on January 23, 2008, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Ilse, to whom he was married for forty years, he will be lovingly remembered by his family: children, John, Kathy, and Angela; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Danica, Amanda and Cameron. He was predeceased by his first wife Trudy (née Holmes). Al was born in Montreal and lived most of his life in eastern Canada. He volunteered for the army in the first year of World War II and served in Canada, England and Europe until 1946. He served as the administrator for two different Veterans’ Hospitals in Quebec. His later business involvements were in the oil and gas, pharmaceutical and fruit imports industries. Al traveled extensively for work and pleasure. Europe, South Africa and Hawaii held a special place in his heart. He spent his retirement in Calgary, where he enjoyed the mountains and volunteering for the alpine skiing World Cups.
