Obituary of Charles M. Anderson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and grandpa, Chuck Anderson on Monday, January 21, 2008. Chuck was surrounded by love, but was anxious to make his “tee time” with all of his best friends, especially the infamous Cour d’ Alene group, who have all gone before him. Chuck was a proud member of the Earl Grey golf course for fifty-eight years, and patiently and lovingly shared his golf skills with his family. The golf course was Dad’s second home; he loved his summers on the course and his winters with his dear friends playing cards in the clubhouse. Dad was also a long time member of the Danish Canadian Club where his claim to fame was his uncanny ability to win Grey Cup pools. Dad lived his entire life in Calgary other than his years serving during World War II in the Navy (HCMS Inch Arran) where he was stationed in Victoria, BC and St. Hyacinthe, QC. Dad entered the world on December 6, 1921 in a taxi cab on the Langevin Bridge, while enroute to the General Hospital. He married the love of his life, Doris (nee Thomas) and they shared over fifty-eight years together until her passing in 2002. The majority of his working life was in the car industry where he was a trusted and respected salesman. Dad had countless friends who appreciated his positive outlook, generosity, kindness and loving disposition. Chuck will be deeply missed by many including his children Lynn and John Rust of Priddis, Tom Anderson and Druh Farrell and Gail and Gino Barberio all of Calgary. He was the precious and proud grandpa to Ryan and Amanda Barberio (his favourite grandchildren) who have been so enriched by his total love and commitment to their lives. Chuck will also be missed by his special friend, Edith Petersen, whose companionship meant so much over the last few years. His little pal, his dog Coco, will also miss him. A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held at McInnis and Holloway’s Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive South West) on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 12:30 PM. We also would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible staff at the Agapé Hospice. Although his time there was brief, their superior care, compassion, and support eased the pain during a difficult time.
