Obituary of Evelyn Varro

Evelyn Varro beloved wife of Alex Varro of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Rockyview Hospital after a lengthy illness at the age of 75 years. Evelyn was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 12, 1933. She met Alex at Balfour Technical School and they were married on January 19, 1952. They had three children, Linda, Suzanna and Paul. They moved to Calgary in 1959. Evelyn’s passions in life were her children, grandchildren and her home life. She was talented in many areas of cooking, canning, baking, arts, crafts, sewing, decorating, and loved entertaining family and friends. She was very supportive of her husband’s entrepreneurial spirit. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, the United States and Mexico but felt a spiritual connection with Hawaii. Evelyn is survived by Alex, her devoted husband of 56 years; Linda and son Daniel; Suzanna and daughters Megan, Simone, Carmen, Gabrielle and Elizabeth; and Paul (Denise) and children Christina, Michelle, Jonathan and Nicholas. She is also survived by her niece Elaine Adam (Ed Somers) of Winnipeg, MB and her children Michael and Darci. Honorable mention goes to her devoted cat companion Mittens. Evelyn was predeceased by her father James Bliss McLeod and her mother Adeline Louise McLeod (nee Everett); and her five siblings, Dorothy “Dot” Grant, James “Jim” McLeod, Jack McLeod, Bertha “Bea” Anderson and William “Bill” McLeod.
