Condolences
Dear Diane and Gordon ( Gordy)
I was so sad to read of your Dad’s passing in the Blenheim Paper. Your Dad had a long life but no matter the age it is always hard to lose a parent. Our Dad’s worked together many years ago at the Hardware store and also at Union Gas. I most remember our time as neighbours in Blenheim. Your Dad and Mom were kind, gentle people. I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you both.
I worked with and for Art for many years while he was in the Marketing Department of Union Gas, Chatham. In a thoughtful way he not only provided guidance but also latitude in solving problems. In leisure moments he would talk about his military days in Egypt and his favourite drink while there – ouzo. Art was always entertaining and supportive, and a gentleman. My sincerest condolences.
I was sorry to hear of Art’s passing. He was a fine man whose caring and generosity of spirit made a huge difference to our family. I enjoyed seeing him just a few years ago in Calgary and getting the full “guided tour” of the retirement community — up and down the stairs, never taking an elevator or slowing down. He inspired me to get more exercise! My thoughts go out to his family at this time.
– Denise McLean (Art’s niece)
Quite by coincidence, I learned just today of Art’s passing – by conversation with “Jane” – didn’t get her last name) at the Military Museum in Blenheim. I knew that Art served in north Africa during the war – he entertained us with stories of his military adventures. We both worked together in the Regulatory Affairs Department at Union Gas. Art was a fine gentlemen and I was glad to know him. My sincerest condolences.
On behalf of the management, staff and residents of Rocky Ridge Retirement Community, we send our heartfelt condolences to the whole family. Art was an inspiration to us. Even at 95, he would do countless daily laps around Rocky Ridge. He was a true gentleman and was beloved here. He will be truly missed.
