He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Verna (nee Toombs). Jerry was born in Calgary and lived here most of his life. He graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1965, and was in the first graduating class of SAIT’s Business Administration program in 1968. He worked for IBM for eleven years, six of them in Edmonton, where he didn’t become an Oilers fan. Jerry was perhaps best known for his contributions to the community as Executive Director at Horizon Housing Society, where he worked for the past twenty-four years. He had life-long friends and made many friends through his work with Horizon, CMHA and many other organizations.
