Obituary of Bob Robinson

Bob Robinson, of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belchers Care Centre on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Bob was born in Detroit, MI. but has lived all his life in Canada. He served his country overseas with the British and Canadian Armies, landing in Normandy in 1944 on D Day. Bob graduated from Acadia University and from Dalhousie Law School in 1950 and was a member of both the New Brunswick Law Society and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Bob practised law in Moncton, NB for sixteen years. In 1969 he began working as the Pension Advocate for the Department of Veterans Affairs and worked in North Bay, Winnipeg and Calgary. Bob also ran on three occasions for Member of Parliament, for the Conservative party in 1965 in the riding of Westmorland, as an Independent Candidate in Moncton in 1968, and for the Liberal Party in Calgary Centre in 1988. He was an active member of the Liberal Party for the last thirty years and a volunteer with the Calgary Stampede Parade Committee for twenty-five years. Bob was also a member of the downtown Rotary Club, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 and an honorary member of the Dashmesh Culture Senior Citizen Society. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Sam Cavallin and their daughter Sarah who live in Australia; son Keith Robinson and his son Craig and former wife Harriet Robinson Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Field of Honour, Queen’s Park Cemetery.
