Obituary of MacDonald Alexander Summersgill

MacDonald (Mac) Alexander Summersgill, beloved husband of Eileen, of Calgary, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Mac was born, November 21, 1925 in his childhood home. Mac is survived and sadly missed by his loving wife Eileen (VanKleek) of sixty-one years and his “special dog Ike”; two daughters Sandra (Bob Murray) St. Albert and Kim Oliver and partner (Doug) of Canmore; two sons Michael (Alison) and Richard (Heather) all of Calgary. Mac was an amazing grandfather to nine grandchildren Tracy, Scott, Shawn, John, Jilysa, Jenni-Lee, Kirby, Elyse and Kirsten; and eleven great-grandchildren Joey, Jasmine, Karisa, Mackenzie, Tristan, Jaden, Charlize, Karly, Connor, Claire and Liam. Mac is also survived by his siblings Dorothy, Bob, Mary, Betty and Jean and Eileen’s siblings Sandy, Bob, Lesley and Doug. Mac shared a special relationship with his brother’s-in-law Wally, Ken, and Glen and sister’s-in-law Diane and Carol. He will also be truly missed by Aunt Myrtle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mac’s true joy in life was the special relationship he had with all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mac was predeceased by his parents Robert and Gertrude Summersgill; sisters Kay Jamieson and Ruth Dawe; his mother and father-in-law Harry and Lillian VanKleek and sister-in Law Joyce Ferguson A Celebration of Mac’s life will be held at McINNIS and HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 10.30 a.m. Forward condolences and fond memories through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
