Donald Demorest

Obituary of Donald Wayne Demorest

Donald (Don) Wayne Demorest of Calgary passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the age of 61 years. Besides his loving and devoted wife Kathy of fifteen years, Don will be deeply missed by his step-daughter Tamra, son Cole and daughter Jillian. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Patricia G. Bossert “Paddy” (Dale W. Bossert), nephew Tyler Dale Bossert; great-nephew Seth Tyler Bossert, and his large extended family (Johnson/Cieslak). Don was happiest when spending time outdoors with his family and friends. A man of all seasons, Don could be found downhill skiing at his favourite ski spot, “Lake Louise” in the winter. The spring brought him to the farm in Acadia Valley where he would help with the annual branding and enjoy the land he so loved. In the summer you could find Don in a number of places throughout BC and Alberta with his family and holiday trailer, exploring the many incredible camp grounds and lakes. The days were done after everyone had had a turn on the water skis and had been thrown from the tube at least once. Fall was Don’s favourite season – curling starts and, more importantly, it was hunting season. This is when Don truly shines with the fellowship of the hunt and the great outdoors. After a long career with the Royal Bank where he worked at branches throughout Alberta, Don settled in Calgary and worked for Revenue Canada for six years. In 1995 Don and Kathy bought White Ice Ltd. Together they worked hard to build it into the strong and respected business it is today.
