Obituary of Elsie Gumbie

Elsie Gumbie of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the age of 83. Elsie was born in Teplitz, Besserabia. She went through WWII with her mother and grandmother as prisoners of war. Elsie survived with her mother and lived in Sulzbach, Germany with the rest of her family. She immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s and married Walter Gumbie. They had a son Edward in 1957. Elsie is survived by her son Edward Gumbie; grandson Matthew Gumbie and spouse Leah Phillips, all of Calgary; brother and sister-in-law, Artur and Hilde Hermann; niece Gabi and Volker Waldenmaier and their children Florian, Patrick and Nico, all of Sulzbach, Germany; special friends Susan and Don Corcoran of Calgary.
