Obituary of Arthur George Nogue
Arthur George Nogue, beloved husband of Yvette Nogue (nee O’Shaughnessy) left us to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
A farm boy at heart, Art was born in 1921 in Milly, Saskatchewan, the ninth of ten children born to homesteaders, Angelina and Joseph. He married Yvette in 1949, and together they and their children ventured through a rich and fulfilling life, within the three Prairie Provinces and the third world. Art’s faith, integrity and strong commitment to social justice have always shone through his lifetime work in the field of cooperative development and as a warm enthusiastic and true friend to immigrant families, those who were poor and homeless, lonely, dying, widowed and orphaned. Art was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He built and distributed 1900 nativity creches to “Keep Christ in Christmas”. All of us who have had the privilege of knowing Art can testify to his wonderful love of people. An hour with Art was always good for your spirit. Serenity and simple wisdom guided his journey. Always a comic and eternal optimist, he “bought green bananas” to the end. Art’s life was a masterpiece and we are so grateful for every moment we had with him.
Besides his beloved wife Yvette, Art is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law Bob and Rosemary; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Bill Vandenhengel, Colette and David Macpherson, and Caroline and Brian Harder; grandchildren Ryan (Malinda), Brendan, Colin, Keith, Kyle, Darcy, Dylan, Kristin, Dane; great-grandson, Holden; and brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Agnes.
Good night sweet prince. Parting is such sweet sorrow that we will say goodnight until it be morrow.
