Obituary of Kathleen Mavis Stevenson
Kathleen Mavis Stevenson (Grandma Kay) beloved wife of sixty-one years of Bob Stevenson of Calgary, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2007 at the age of 81 years.
Kathleen was born on August 8, 1926 in Marysville, NB and was the second youngest of twelve children. She married her beloved husband Bob on March 30, 1946 and together in 1951 they began their new life in Calgary. Kathleen was active and enjoyed curling, tennis and needlework. Her favourite holiday was Christmas and she always made children feel welcome in her home by baking the best chocolate chip cookies. She also had a soft spot for penguins. Grandma Kay will always be remembered for her determination, quiet elegance and a kindness that she extended as a faithful friend to many. She was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Besides her loving husband Bob, Kathleen is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Anne and Frank Stollbert of Calgary, and their children Taylor and Alexa Stollbert and by Bev Stevenson and Blair Lindsay and their son David Lindsay. As well, special family members Anna and Herman Doornbos and their son Paul of Sharbot Lake, Ontario and by her brother Albert MacPherson of Fredericton, NB, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert Raymond in 1967.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Mountainview Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, the Mustard Seed Street Ministry, the Salvation Army or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Thanks to Dr. J. Brzeski (Family Physician), Unit 73 of the Rockyview General Hospital, Dr. Michelle Burns and the nursing staff for their kindness and compassion.
