Obituary of Serafina Pepe

Serafina Pepe of Calgary, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Serafina was born in Teramo, Abbruzzi, Italy. In 1953, Serafina along with four young children crossed the Atlantic to join her husband Luigi in Calgary. Within a few years they had two more children to add to their flock. Serafina’s passion was her family and cooking. She loved to cook and will always be remembered for her delicious home made pasta, especially ravioli. Serafina will be missed by her children Vince (Sherill) Pepe, Rosa (Benny) Fishman, Maria (Steve) LaHay, Carlo (Jenny) Pepe, Lydia (Colin) Sloan, Brian (Suzie) Pepe; her thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Serafina is also survived by a brother, Giovanni (Anna) Di Marcello of Kelowna, BC, a sister Iolanda (Domenico) Broccolini of Teramo, Italy, sisters-in-law Lina Di Marcello and Domenica DiGirolamo both of Calgary as well as numerous other relatives in Italy. She was predeceased by her husband Luigi in 2004. A Private family service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:30p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
