Obituary of Charles Volk

Charles “Chuck” Volk passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007, with his family by his side, after battling a brief illness in the Intensive Care Unit at the Rockyview General Hospital. Chuck was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on April 25, 1942 to Annie and Tony Volk. Shortly after his birth his Mom and Dad moved the family to Taber, AB where Chuck grew up. In Taber Chuck met a wonderful young nurse from Calgary, his one true love, Velma. They were married in August of 1961 and raised their two children in Calgary. It was here that Chuck started a very successful sales career in the moving industry. He worked very hard for over forty years winning numerous local and national sales awards. When not working, Chuck and Velma loved to spend time on the Oregon coast walking the beaches and watching the sunsets. Another great joy in Chuck’s life was to play with and “tease” his four year old grandson Luke. One of the last things they did together was hang this year’s Christmas lights. Luke announced with much enthusiasm that it was “so much fun”. We will all remember Chuck for his gift of gab, his sense of humour, his pranks and his laughter. Chuck is the beloved husband of Velma; father to Denise (Paul) and Ken; grampa to Luke (his little buddy), Serena and Newberry; brother to Ron (Lorna), Irene (Tom); and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Annie and Tony Volk, his beloved brother George Volk and by his nephew Kevin Cseke. To honour Chuck’s wishes there will not be a Funeral Service.
