Obituary of Donna Alexandra McDougall

Donna Alexandra McDougall beloved daughter of the late Alexander (Mac) and Mae Elizabeth McHattie (Ditto); loving mother of son Michael; daughter-in-law Jennifer; ecstatic grandmother of Dylan; tolerant sister to Donald William and loved sister-in-law Judith McHattie; aunt and cousin to family members and good friend of many, too numerous to mention; and of course, her loving best friend Psycho Kitty, Ki, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the age of 63 years. Donna obtained her BA at the University of Alberta, BSW and MSW at the University of Calgary. During her successful career she worked with Toronto Children’s Aid Society, Calgary Family Services and the YWCA of Calgary – Sheriff King Home. She was a supervisor, counsellor, mentor, teacher and guide to many. In all of her positions she held compassion and wisdom for everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. Donna loved life, treasured her family and friends and enjoyed living in Toronto, Ottawa, Holland, Massachusetts and Calgary. In the last few months of her life she chose to seize every moment with love and laughter, connecting to nature in her backyard and her river. This was living in the flow. Her courage and humility is an inspiration to all of us. Our community has lost a brilliant, loving, feisty, compassionate elder with a wicked wit, who eased the suffering of many and always championed the cause of human rights.
