Obituary of Mary Hobbs
Mary Hobbs of Calgary passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the age of 88 years.
Mary was born and raised on “The Farm” in Sedgwick, AB. She married Fred Hobbs on October 4, 1950 and was a devoted wife until his death in 1972. Mary then concentrated her unconditional love on her children and later on her six grandchildren. A lifetime Albertan, Mary loved her sports teams, particularly the Flames and Stampeders. Curling and tennis were also her passions but there was nothing that could compete with a good game of cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a friend to everyone and everything and her warm humourous spirit will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary will be sadly missed by her two sons, Al (Arlene) Hobbs and Dan Hobbs and her daughter Mary-Jo Marshall, all of Calgary; six grandchildren, Matthew, Tom, Jeff, Bryan, Megan and Spencer; her sister Ethel Moon, of Edmonton; sister-in-law Dorothy McLennan of Sedgewick as well as many nieces, nephews and long time friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband Alfred Ernest (Fred) Hobbs; brothers, Smith, Colin, Al and Lyle McLennan and her sister Vera (Hobbs) Mallow.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club (4611 – 14 St. N.W) on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. (Access the social entrance, north side of building).
