Obituary of Harold Kelly Flanagan
Harold “Kelly” Flanagan of Airdrie, AB passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the age of 80 years.
Kelly was born in 1927 in Biddulph TWP, ON and moved to Alberta in 1959. He spent most of his years driving truck and enjoying life with his many friends and family, spending the last few years at the “Hideaway” in Caroline, AB which was one of his favorite places to be. Kelly loved many things about the Hideaway, from watching birds and wildlife that passed through the property, riding his quad around to say hello to anyone who was there or sitting by the campfire telling old stories to all of us.
Kelly is survived by his daughters, Kelly Flanagan of Airdrie and Colleen (Matt) Ellis of Calgary; grandchildren, Curt and Amy Prince of Airdrie and Darby Ellis of Calgary; brothers and sisters, Rita and John Gray, the late Margaret and the late Orval Corriveau, Kay and the late Jack Blair, the late Andrew Flanagan, the late Bernard and Mary Flanagan, the late Ruth and Bill Hedley, Dorothy and the late Norman Blake, the late Theresa and Gerald Leitch, Leo and Evelyn Flanagan, the late Jean and the late Ken Andison. Kelly is also survived by his first wife Hazel Perrier and numerous other relatives and friends.
Kelly’s wish was to not have a funeral or memorial service so we ask anyone who knew him to raise a glass and say a toast to a great dad, brother, uncle, friend or co-worker and to remember the times that you spent with him. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Canadian Cancer Society, (Volunteer Driver Program), 215 – 12 Ave S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2, or to the Southwood Hospice, 211 Heritage Dr. S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1M9 Telephone: (403) 252-1194.
