Obituary of Dorothy Healey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom who died peacefully after an extraordinarily long and courageous battle with cancer at the Chinook Care Centre in Calgary at the age of 85 years. Dorothy spent several years in each of these cities, Halifax, (where she was born), Sydney, Toronto, Ottawa and finally Calgary. She was a talented artist and expressed her creativity in her music, painting and crafts. Dorothy’s love of life and adventure even led her to a career in real estate in her 60’s. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Cyril Healey and daughter of the late Allan and Verna (Nickerson) Collins. She leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Doug Angus of Ottawa, ON and Barbara and Tony Forster of Calgary. She was the cherished grandmother of Chris (Shelia) Davis, Doug (Olivia) Davis, Greg (Nicole) Davis, Glenn (Susannah) Davis and Cheri Forster as well as the proud great-grandmother of thirteen. Dorothy also leaves to mourn her sister Peggy Clinton of River Hebert, NS and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Chinook Care Centre (1261 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff of Chinook Care Centre for their kindness and gentle care of Dorothy.
