Obituary of James Caryl Roberts

James Roberts, beloved husband of Gwen for 58 years, of Cochrane, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the age of 79 years. James was born on December 30, 1927 in Montreal, Quebec and married Gwen on December 30, 1949. James joined the Canadian Army during WWII and served as a paratrooper with the airborne with postings in Shilo MB and later in Montreal PQ. Jim also spent a year as a member of the Queen?s Own Guards in England. His last posting was in Calgary where he retired from the military in 1970 and began working with Mutual Life until 1988. He was also a member of the Masonic Temple and Al Azhar Shriners Mounted Patrol for over 30 years. James was very involved with the television and movie industry and appeared as an actor in numerous commercials and movies including Superman III, Little Big Man and The Lonesome Dove Series. He loved horses, sailing, skiing, golfing, and just to be outdoors enjoying nature. Besides his loving wife Gwen, James is survived by his children, Christopher (Brenda) of Calgary, Pamela (Darcy) Lapp of Pridis and Gregory (Linda) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Sara Lapp, Jeffrey Lapp, Alec (AJ) Roberts; and James? favourite horse Bar B. He is also survived by his sister, Lillian Fowle of Toronto, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of James?
