Obituary of William Joseph KISBY

December 8, 1930 – Calgary, Alberta July 5, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta “I just feel lost.” Mom said it best, despite the Dementia fog. We’re all feeling lost after saying goodbye to our Husband, our Dad, our Grandpa, our Great…our rock. After a rollercoaster 6-week stay at the hospital, Billy passed on the morning of July 5th. After a well-lived 88 years. Up until his last moments, the doctors were betting against Billy, but we didn’t, and he never did either. With friends and family coming through to visit, the last two weeks of dad’s life were filled with the things that needed to be said, the laughs we could find and lots of chocolate milk. His head and his heart weren’t ready to go- he was still talking about the adventures he’d not had yet-more “shoo-shee” meals, places to travel and grander and grander plans for the next Billy’s Supper Club. In the end, he wanted to know the treasures is his garage would be used, Mom would be taken care of, the cats had a place and his family would be okay. And that’s how he was, wasn’t it? Kind and caring, wanting to help others and a bit naughty when he needed to be. He was stubborn, but able to bend and forgive when he needed to- especially in the last two years following Sharon and Doug’s accident. He touched a lot of lives in 88 years-even the pastry lady at the market was upset when we told her. He was humble- he wasn’t sure what he’d done to deserve all the caring thoughts people were sending his way. We’re so grateful- in his final moments, with Kevin and Amanda holding his hands, Kevin said it was okay to let go, and to be with Sharon- with a tear in his eye, that’s when he slipped away. We’d also ask any phone calls or messages come through me, Kevin or Stacey so we can share them with mom in a gentle way- her Dementia is not making this easy, and we’re doing our best to protect her as much as possible. A Celebration for Bill will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Temple Community Hall (). Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
