Obituary of Juanita Celi Sanchez

Juanita Celi Sanchez of Calgary passed away on November 15, 2007 at the age of 91 years. She was born in Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines on June 24, 1916. She was called “Mang”, referring to her position as the family matriarch. Mang was predeceased by her husband Castor in 1996. She will be missed by her six children, Raul (Andrea) of Manila, Wilma (Arturo) of Manila, Nick (Nene) of Calgary, Sonia (Bob) of Saskatchewan, Joel (Virgie) of California and Gloria (Ging) of Calgary. Mang leaves behind seventeen grandchildren and their spouses, as well as ten great-grandchildren in Calgary, Las Vegas, Seattle, Los Angeles and Manila. Mang moved to Calgary in 1974 with Castor, where her son Nick had settled with his own family. Mang and Pang were one of the founders of the Filipino Calgarian Seniors Club and spent many happy hours enjoying their frequent social events in the company of numerous dear friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, November 22 and Friday November 23, 2007 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes on Friday November 23, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45th Street S.E.) on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Mang will be laid to rest in Bolinao, Philippines alongside her husband at a later date.
