Obituary of Annie Tomyk
Annie Tomyk of Airdrie passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the age of 79 years.
Annie was born on February 3, 1928 in Dauphin, MB and was raised in Stoney Mountain, MB. In 1949 Annie married Frederick Tomyk and moved to Winnipeg, coming to Calgary in 1959 and later to Regina in 1974. Following the passing of her husband, Annie returned to Winnipeg before finally settling in Airdrie in 2001 to be near her family. Annie was an active member of the Airdrie United Church and was involved within the community. She was part of the Seniors Mall Walking Group, the Bag Ladies (Quilt makers for the homeless), the Airdrie Food Bank and the Over Fifty Club. Annie’s family and friends were of utmost importance to her; she would always call to keep in touch and never missed a special occasion.
Annie is survived by her three children Bev and Cal Hood of Parksville, BC; Doug Tomyk of Winnipeg, MB; Sherri and Mark Richardson of Irricana, AB; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Iris Barr of New Westminster, BC as well as several nieces and nephews. Annie was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1985.
Funeral Service will be held at Airdrie United Church (212 – 1 Avenue N.E., Airdrie) on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at West Irricana United Church Cemetery.
