Obituary of Joseph John Simon

Joseph John Simon of Calgary passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the age of 78 years. He was born on November, 1928 as Joseph Kispál Kovács in Sükösd, Hungary. Joseph was adopted in 1950 by the Simon family in Austria, shortly thereafter immigrating to Canada. He worked in the oil and gas industry. His long time passion was researching early Hungarians that immigrated to Canada. Joseph founded the Library of Hungarian Cultural Association of Calgary, where he was the librarian until his retirement in 1997. Joseph is survived by his brother Peter in Toronto; siblings, László, Pál and Erzsébet and their families in Hungary; his siblings from his adopted family the Simons; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families in the United States and Canada. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Julia of fifty-one years and his brothers János and István Kispál Kovács. He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.
