Obituary of Thomas E. Crowe
CROWE – Thomas E. (Tim)
February 13, 1917 – October 28, 2007
Tim Crowe, beloved husband of Mary of Calgary, passed away on Sunday October 28, 2007 at the age of 90 years.
Tim was born on February 13, 1917 to Edwin and Jesse Crowe at Marquis, Saskatchewan, Tim attended school in Kindersley and Saskatoon. Tim served in the Canadian Naval Services as a Chief Petty Officer from June 1942 to October 1945. After the war he returned to Saskatoon and began his career working for the General Automotive Supply as a Machinist, until 1947 when he moved to Calgary and wed Mary in March, 1948. Tim and Mary made their home in the community of Lynnwood/Ogden in 1956 and were long-time residents at Carefree Resort. Tim worked at CPR Ogden Shops as a journeyman machinist until his retirement, he was a life member of the Machinist and Aerospace Union Lodge #345, Alberta Horseshoe Association, and the Royal Canadian Legion No. 154. Tim’s passion was his music. His happiest times were spent playing with his band “The Drifters” and later “The Drifters 4”. Often referred to as “Mr. Fixit” for his home repair talents, you could call on Tim anytime. He loved golfing, fishing, camping, painting, gardening, and horseshoes. Tim was fondly known as Grampa Crowe, who always had a story to tell and always took the time to listen to ours. Grampa Crowe’s good nature greatly influenced the lives of those closest to him, and he will be missed dearly, by all who knew and loved him.
Tim is survived by his wife Mary; his brother-in-law Robert “Beck” Van Impe; his nieces, Linda and Susan; and his nephews, Gary and Harry and their children; also his best friend Tippy and many close friends.
Interment will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery (4 Street and 31 Avenue NW) on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Following the interment friends are invited to gather at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion #154 Ogden Branch (2625 – 78 Avenue SE).
