Obituary of Isaac Hardin

Isaac Hardin of Calgary passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the age of 90 years. Isaac was born on July 4, 1917, in Edmonton, AB. In 1943, he graduated from the University of Alberta, School of Medicine, and did his internship at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. In that same year, he married the love of his life, Rebecca, who was to be his companion until her death in May of 2001. After Isaac completed his internship, he immediately went into the army and was posted in Calgary to care for returning troops. He spent from 1946 to 1951 as a General Practitioner in Oyen, AB. From 1951 to 1954 he did a dermatology residency in the United States and started practice as a dermatologist in Edmonton in 1954. . Isaac became a very prominent doctor in Edmonton, until his retirement in 1987. He had a great love for dermatology, which was his passion during his working life. He was very active in Edmonton’s Jewish community, the Masons, and B’nai Brith. He was also very philanthropic to various charities. Isaac will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters and a son-in-law Marilyn Libin, Sharon and Sidney Estrin; his two sons and daughters-in-law Barry and Ila Hardin, Philip and Penny Hardin; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca and his son-in-law Stan Libin. Funeral Services will be held at the Edmonton Jewish Memorial Chapel, (7622 – 101 Avenue, Edmonton, AB) on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
