Obituary of Shirley Margaret Brehon

Shirley Brehon of Calgary passed away on Monday, October 22, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Shirley’s love of children led her to a career as a teacher. She taught in many small schools around Saskatchewan until her marriage to Dick in 1959. Shirley and Dick moved their family to Lloydminster in 1966. Even while raising a family Shirley was active in school and community activities. She was involved in Home and School at Queen Elizabeth School and taught in Marion Wallace’s private kindergarten. Shirley was also president of the Grace United Church General UCW and received a lifetime membership in UCW for her years of service. Shirley returned to teaching full time in 1974 and taught kindergarten in the Lloydminster Public School system until her retirement in 1988. Failing health led Shirley to move to Calgary in 1998. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses Bruce & Patty of Calgary, Jeananne & Kevin Whitley of Victoria and Charles & Wendy of Calgary; grandchildren Megan, Kassandra, Claire, Katelyn, Kayla, Brendan and Ryan. Shirley also leaves to mourn her passing her sister Pat McDougall of Vancouver, BC; brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
