Obituary of Lily Wesley

Lily “Golden Eagle Woman” beloved wife of Lazarus Wesley was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Lily (îna) was born and raised in Morley, AB on the Stoney Reserve and was to become the first in Morley to be a nurses aide. Lily had assisted many Stoney members as a Mid-wife throughout her years. She was kind, respectful, gentle and loving to everyone who knew her. Lily along with her husband travelled far and wide in North America and Europe, representing the Stoney People in many official functions and was a renowned ambassador of the Stoney culture. Lily passed on her knowledge and culture to her children and grandchildren, she was an expert in handling wild meat and tanning hides. Lily has left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten Lily’s favourite pastime in her later years was playing bingo Lily (îna) is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Lazarus Wesley; her children, Una, Virginia, Pauline (George), Lenny (Corrina), Peter (Donna), Reatha, Laurel (Tracy); her grandchildren, Loki, Melodyh (Gordon), Conrad (Linda), Travis, Trudy (Scott), Trevor (Jessica), Duane (Sharon), Leona, Cynthis, Trisha (Colin), Aniko (Lee), Lena, Burton, Tuanita (Chris), Mandy, Vonnie, Peter Jr. (Mel). Cherith, Josh, Naomi, Celeste, Racina (Jerry), and Lorelle (Mark); special great-granddaughter Elaina (Tucky) Fox; her twin brother Bert Wildman, her sister Tina Holloway, Sister-in-law Nora Stevens, thirty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; as well as many extended relatives and friends from Morley, Eden Valley, Big Horn and from too many places to mention. Lily was predeceased by her parents Dan and Leah Wildman, her two children Angus and Pauline, and her mother and father-in-law Moses and Mary Wesley. Wake Services will be held at the residence Lazarus Wesley (Morley, AB) today, October 26, 2007. Funeral Services will be held at the Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).
